An Integrated Weeks course entitled Offshore Drilling was initiated on 18th January at Room 804, 12 Storey C Building. This is the last of five course series that TPA planned to delivery at the University of Mining and Geology from October 2009 to early 2010.
Footwear The course is instructed by Professor Alphonse Grynko (TPA), who was awarded a degree of Drilling and Production Engineering from ENSPM in 1970, and then spent 75% of career working as an expatriate. He worked as a lecturer at the Institut Algérien du Pétrole (Algerian Petroleum Institute) during two years after graduation. He had been a successively drilling engineer, drilling director, operations director, and exploration subsidiary director on two occasions, in the period from 1973 to 2003. Professor Grynko was the first manager of Total E&P Vietnam, and this occasion is the first time he comes back Vietnam after 18 years travelling around the world.
Within five days, participants of the course were introduced an overview of the Offshore Drilling activities in:
-
Drilling history (From shore to offshore);
-
Drilling activities, drilling technics;
-
Well construction, wellheads and Christmas trees;
-
Safety in offshore activities;
-
Drilling campaign preparation;
-
Formation fracture gradient;
-
Site & meteo-oceano surveys;
-
Off-Onshore shared drilling equipment;
-
SIMOPS operations, operations with inland barges, submersibles, tender rigs and jack-up, operations on platforms;
-
Deepwater drilling hazards;
-
Deepwater drilling practices and rig drilling equipment;
-
Operations semi-submersibles;
-
Directional drilling
Course participants were introduced and taught about offshore drilling activities: Drilling history, drilling activities and technics, the offshore drilling hazards, crucial surveys for offshore drilling operations and operations with offshore drilling units. The most useful in the course are many experiences shared by the professor both in technics and drilling management. To finish and to gain a certificate, participants had to take a small test at the end of the course.
